Position Overview
Vistaar Agrotech Private Limited is seeking a Project Engineer – Essential Oils Processing Units to support the development and operationalization of essential oil extraction facilities. The role will involve identifying suitable equipment manufacturers, finalizing machinery clusters, supervising installation and commissioning of extraction units, and building in-house maintenance and repair capabilities.
The position requires close coordination with equipment manufacturers, project teams, farmer producer organizations (FPOs), and field technicians to ensure efficient setup and smooth functioning of essential oil processing facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Identification & Technology Assessment
- Identify and evaluate manufacturers of essential oil extraction equipment, including steam distillation units, boilers, condensers, oil separators, and auxiliary systems.
- Compare technology options based on efficiency, reliability, operational cost, and scalability.
- Support in finalization of equipment clusters and specifications for essential oil processing units.
- Coordinate with vendors to obtain technical specifications, quotations, and design improvements.
Project Setup & Commissioning
- Support planning and implementation of essential oil extraction units, including:
- Steam distillation systems
- Boilers and steam generation systems
- Condensers and oil separators
- Biomass or gasifier-based heating systems
- Storage and handling infrastructure
- Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of equipment.
- Ensure compliance with technical specifications, operational safety, and performance standards.
Process Optimization
- Assist in optimizing essential oil extraction efficiency for crops such as citronella, lemongrass, patchouli, ginger, turmeric, and other aromatic plants.
- Monitor parameters such as steam consumption, batch processing efficiency, and oil recovery rates.
- Recommend improvements in material handling systems, batch workflows, and plant layout.
Maintenance & Technical Capability Development
- Develop in-house maintenance and repair systems for essential oil processing equipment.
- Prepare standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintenance protocols.
- Train operators and technicians on:
- Preventive maintenance
- Troubleshooting of distillation systems
- Boiler and steam system operations
- Safety procedures
Vendor & Technical Coordination
- Build and maintain relationships with equipment manufacturers and service providers.
- Support procurement teams in technical evaluation of equipment and vendor proposals.
- Coordinate with suppliers for after-sales support, spare parts, and system upgrades.
Field Implementation Support
- Travel to project locations to support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Conduct technical training for local plant operators and field teams.
- Provide ongoing technical guidance to ensure consistent production and oil quality.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Agricultural Engineering / Chemical Engineering / Process Engineering
Experience
- 6–10 years of experience in:
- Essential oil distillation systems
- Agro-processing equipment
- Steam boilers or thermal systems
- Industrial equipment installation and commissioning
- Experience in aromatic plant processing or herbal extraction industries will be an advantage.
