Role Overview

The Vice President – Agri Retail will be responsible for conceptualizing, strategizing, and executing Vistaar Agrotech’s retail business model across India. The individual will build a robust distribution and retail network for processed agricultural products sourced from SLRD agri clusters and allied partners. The role demands a strong combination of strategic leadership, business development, brand building, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Planning
    • Develop and implement the overall retail strategy for processed agri products.
    • Build long-term roadmaps for expansion across offline and online channels.
    • Align retail strategy with SLRD’s agri cluster production capacities.
  • Business Development & Retail Expansion
    • Identify and establish partnerships with supermarkets, modern trade, online marketplaces, and institutional buyers.
    • Create new revenue streams through innovative retail formats and direct-to-consumer channels.
    • Drive geographic expansion into Tier 1, Tier 2, and international markets.
  • Branding & Marketing
    • Develop strong branding and retail visibility for Vistaar Agrotech product lines.
    • Ensure cohesive brand positioning for cluster-based products under a unified retail identity.
    • Drive promotional campaigns, consumer awareness, and retail activations.
  • Supply Chain & Operations
    • Oversee end-to-end retail supply chain including procurement, packaging, logistics, warehousing, and retail delivery.
    • Establish quality assurance systems aligned with national/international standards.
    • Integrate cluster-level production into a seamless retail supply chain.
  • Financial Performance & Governance
    • Prepare and monitor retail business P&L, sales targets, and profitability goals.
    • Optimize pricing strategies, margins, and product mix to ensure financial sustainability.
    • Report key retail performance indicators to senior management.
  • Team Building & Leadership
    • Build and lead a strong retail and sales team across regions.
    • Provide mentorship, performance management, and leadership to drive retail excellence.
    • Collaborate with FPOs, SLRD teams, and market partners for smooth coordination.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 10–15 years of experience in retail management, preferably in agri-business, FMCG, or food retail sectors.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling retail businesses for processed agricultural products.
  • Strong understanding of modern trade, general trade, e-commerce, and institutional sales.
  • Experience in brand building, retail marketing, and consumer engagement.
  • Expertise in managing supply chain, logistics, and quality standards for agri products.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • MBA/PGDM in Marketing, Retail, Agri-Business Management, or related field preferred.
